Musings on burnout and the fear of living: What to Do When Life Gets Hectic

Do you ever go through life wondering, “So hey… what’s the whole essence of my existence in this small globe?”

And by small globe, I mean your immediate circle — that tiny bubble you find yourself navigating every single day, even on the days you don’t feel like it. It could be your workplace, your children, your partner, your outreach team… something you can’t really separate yourself from because, in that particular moment in time, it’s what you live and breathe.

So you wonder:

What’s the essence?

What’s the essence of waking up every morning to dress up and go to a job I don’t even like?

What’s the essence of raising my kids in a town that doesn’t seem like it’ll truly pave the way for them to thrive?

What’s the essence of a relationship that’s lasted seven years and still doesn’t seem to be leading anywhere?

What’s the essence…?

A famous quote once said, “You don’t really get to live until you stop being scared of living.”

I don’t know how completely true that is. God knows, there are days when I’d rather not do so much living. Some days, I just want to curl up into a tiny cocoon and hibernate for maybe… five years. Yeah, five whole years. Lol.

But I’ve also come to realise that you don’t really get to do much when you’re constantly afraid — afraid of the outcome, afraid of the shadows lurking around, afraid of what might fail and what might not. It traps you in this endless cycle of what ifs and what nots.

And honestly? If I said I didn’t understand that feeling, I’d probably be the biggest liar on the planet.

Isn’t it funny how a person can truly die inside while they’re still breathing?

Dear reader, would you say you are truly alive, or are you simply going through the motions?

I’m still trying to discover what living really means, and I have so many questions. These questions scare me sometimes because I wonder if I’ll ever find the answers to them. But we can’t keep waiting forever, can we?

At some point, we have to take the bull by the horns and see where the road leads — whether we become the greatest matador or fall flat on our faces. Either way, we’ll never know unless we try.

So here’s my prompt for this week:

Would you say you are truly alive, or are you just going through the motions?

Love and Light,
Sophie

Nice writeup. Maybe we just have to accept that life is a playlet and we are all players. Do our part and leave
